Caldicot Town Centre has been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2019 “Great British High Street Rising Star Awards”
Caldicot Town Team applied to be considered as a candidate for the High Street Awards, which is run in partnership with HM Government and Visa. We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist, one of only 7 in Wales.
The Great British High Street Awards, run by The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) in proud partnership with Visa and backed by other partners, are recognising and celebrating the communities that are working to revive local high streets.
Caldicot Town Team have been working over the last 6 years to promote, enhance and redevelop our town centre and are proud to be recognised for this. However, this isn’t just Caldicot Town Team’s accolade, this is something that everyone who has helped, supported and given their time to volunteer towards making Caldicot a better place to work, live and play.
Whether its litter picking, planting up plant boxes, weeding, cleaning, hosting events, running community projects and listening and developing plans to improve our town, from running community pages, sharing local group information, running sports clubs for children, each and every person who has helped has made a difference for good in our town and everybody should be proud of the effort put in, however big or small.
Judges from the Great British High Streets Awards will visit Caldicot and will make up 80% of the total vote towards being crowned the winner of the Rising Star Awards, 20% of the vote will come from public voting. You can vote online here https://thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk/high-street-of-the-year-awards/rising-star-monmouthshire
With the judges arrival imminent, it is important that as a community, we are all able to come together and work together to make changes within our town centre that will make a difference before their arrival. To help this move forwards we would like to facilitate a public meeting to discuss ideas and arrange an ‘action plan’ of improvements that can be made before judges arrive. this will take place within Caldicot Town Centre (outside Store 21) on Thursday 15th August at 7pm. We would be really grateful if you would be able to come along and make the meeting. “many hands make light work”
