Gas Improvement Works in Caldicot

Wales & West Utilities are planning major gas improvement works over the next six months in Caldicot, starting from Monday June 20th 2022.

Roadworks, traffic lights and some diversions will be in place during this time, with local residents and users advised to leave extra time, especially around school runs and rush hours to avoid disruption to daily schedules.

Works start on the B4245 at Newport Road/Caldicot Road (Longfellow Road jnc) on Monday 20th June and will move through Caldicot as works progress.

Two way traffic lights will be in place along Newport Road while works are ongoing and some side streets will be closed with diversions in place.

Wales & West Utilities Adam Smith is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Caldicot. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.

We will work as safely and as quickly as possible to finish the work, whilst keeping inconvenience to a minimum for local people and road users.
