The Welsh Government have released a further statement in relation to the support for businesses within Wales. Giving assurance and providing vital financial relief at this uncertain time.
- All businesses within the retail, Leisure and Hospitality sector will receive a year long business rates holiday from April 2020
- £25,000 grant will be offered for businesses in the same sectors with a rateable value of £12,001 – £51,000
- A £10,000 grant will be given to all businesses eligible for Small Business Rates Relief with a rateable value of £12,000 or less.
Finance Minister Rebecca Evans said;
This new support package recognises the scale of the unprecedented challenges we are facing and provides much needed support for vulnerable sectors in Wales, But there is still more to be done.
Yesterday, The First Minister wrote to the Chancellor urging the UK Government to intervene and provide a more ambitious range of measures to help businesses manage the impact of Coronavirus
Caldicot Town Team have been in close contact with Monmouthshire County Council regarding this and are currently seeking further clarity on how these grants will be distributed, whether they need to be applied for or whether funding will be automatically given, and more importantly when this will happen. It is reassuring that the Welsh Government have made a statement so quickly after the UK Budget update, however this money is needed right now to support businesses, not further down the line.
Economy, Transport and North Wales Minster Ken Skates said;
As a Welsh Government, we are absolutely committed to providing the support and reassurance the business community needs during these difficult times. Today’s announcement is a clear demonstration of our efforts to keep fighting for exactly that.
We will visit all businesses in the town centre individually by the end of this week to inform them of the latest information and to offer our support in whatever way we can. Businesses can contact us using the contact details above or by text/WhatsApp on 07543 332368 for anything urgent.
Together we are able to get through this crisis and we will do whatever we can within our power to be able to support our businesses and town centre to ensure that once all this is over, we are able to continue as normal.
