Businesses in the county are being urged to apply for the ‘firebreak’ funding grant that is available for retail, leisure and hospitality, before the scheme closes on Friday 20th November at 5pm.
As previous press releases have covered, there is a grant available to those in the retail, leisure and hospitality industry for Welsh businesses during the latest ‘firebreak’ lockdown.
Businesses must apply for the funding through the Monmouthshire County Council website, (link below) to receive the funding. Two funding grants are available;
The Lockdown Non Domestic Rate Grant applies to businesses as follows:
Grant 1 – £5,000: Available to Retail, Leisure & Hospitality businesses that have been forced to close, with a rateable value between £12,001 and £51,000.
Grant 2 – £1,000: Available to businesses with a rateable value of up to £12,000 and who are eligible for Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR).
A discretionary grant of £1,500 is available to assist businesses that have:
- Been forced to close (as defined by the regulations) as a result of the national firebreak lockdown OR are able to demonstrate that the national firebreak lockdown will result in at least a 80% reduction in their turnover for that period
Businesses will only be eligible for one of these grants, however it is worth noting that there is a limit to the number of businesses who will be able to access Grant 2, and this is already filling up quickly.
