Baby Bank Referrals Now Accepted
CORE has now opened its doors for the Caldikidz Community Baby Bank, the community arm of Caldikidz. Referrals are now being accepted for those in need of support.
Caldikidz Community is a Baby Bank based in Core Caldicot, Monmouthshire. The cost and stress of parenthood has never been greater than in the economic climate. With this in mind, Caldikidz Community was established to help local families who might be struggling to access all the essentials, from the age of newborn to 12 months, including items and equipment such as toiletries, food and clothing.
The inspiring face behind Caldikidz Community, that supports families in Caldicot, Chepstow, Magor and surrounding areas, is local Baby shop owner, Phillippa Reeks. Phillippa opened up about her personal experiences motivating her to pursue the inspiring project.

“Being there myself, a mum on a low income and seeing the amount of poverty that’s out there. Also in the Baby Shop, meeting and talking to people, I identified a need for the Baby Bank. MHA’s funding has given me the courage to go ahead with the idea of the baby bank, it’s allowed me to purchase new items for the baby bank that are in my eyes very necessary. The sponsorship from MHA allows us to buy new teats for bottles, new dummies for hygiene reasons, as well as supplying brand new mattresses for the cots, moses baskets and prams. It also allows us to buy specifics if we have a referral come in that we don’t have in stock or a special needs item. It allows us to consider mothers by providing sanitary products and signpost on to other services forming that wrap around support. It’s allowed us to look at advertising display pull banners as we launch, creating a logo and design work. Without MHAs funding I wouldn’t have been able to start this project as I’d have always doubted my ability to pull it off.”
