Supermarket Fund New Town Centre Map

Caldicot Town Team are pleased to announce that we have managed to negotiate a deal with Asda to provide £5,000 in funding a new town centre map which is to be located on the new supermarket site, close to the main entrance to the store.

The map, which will list every single business in the town centre, will help new visitors to the supermarket to find out which stores are in the town centre.

We have provided the supermarket designers outline details of what we feel that the map should show, and the layout recommended. The map will also provide directional details for Caldicot Castle.

The idea of standardising the map design is in the hope that it will be able to easily be replicated with displays at Caldicot Castle, and another map in Jubilee Way car park.

Importantly, to the other businesses in the town, Asda are not allowed to have any other advertisement of their business other than a listing in the directory, and logo showing the store, keeping the “advertising” as fair as possible to everyone. We have also stressed that it is vitally important that the map is installed and completed on or before the linkage to the town centre from the store is completed.

Doug Wilson, Head of UK property communications legal commented “We are delighted with the welcome we have had since coming to Caldicot and are keen to continue our work with the Town Team to support the great work they are doing.”

Planning permission will need to be applied for in relation to the location of the map, again, Asda are building this cost into the budget. Should the cost of designing and installing the map come under the £5,000 funding already allocated, remaining monies will be used to maintain and make any required changes to the map in the future.
