Eisteddfod 2016 Update
The countdown to this summer’s National Eisteddfod (from 29th July – 6th August) is here at last – the headline acts are confirmed and early bird tickets are on sale!

There’s still time to get involved:
- Chance to perform at Monmouthshire’s area of the National Eisteddfod – Monmouthshire’s area on the Maes is going to be fantastic. There’s still time for Welsh speaking acts to get involved – any bands, choirs, artists etc. please do get in touch. We also require instrumental and dance acts to compliment the programme. Please email: timlewis@monmouthshire.gov.uk or dandavies@monmouthshire.gov.uk for details and spread the word amongst any of your contacts
- Monmouthshire Children’s Choir – we still have spaces available for children to join the choir that will perform on the main stage. Please email Aly at Gwent Music to get involved: aly.jones@sky.com
- Promoting events and offers to Eisteddfod visitors –
Promote your events and special offers to Eisteddfod visitors in the Monmouthshire Eisteddfod Fringe Programme – please email details of any events held in Monmouthshire between 29 July and 6 August, and of special offers or discounts aimed at eisteddfod visitors to kevinford@monmouthshire.gov.uk before 31 May 2016. Event details required: name of event, location, date, time, short description, charge, contact email address & phone number, and website address.
Interested in being an Ambassador for Monmouthshire at the Eisteddfod? We’re looking for Welsh speaking volunteers to welcome visitors and provide information on all the great things for visitors to see and do while they’re in the area. Ambassadors will be located at key sites around Abergavenny and within Monmouthshire’s area on the Maes. Please email nicolaedwards@monmouthshire.gov.uk by 31 May 2016 if interested. Training will be provided and additional free tickets will be given to volunteers so they can attend the Eisteddfod on another day as a visitor.
FYI, many communications will be going live over the coming weeks to raise the awareness of the event so please do look out for the following:

| · Lamp post banners are being produced to be hung up in Abergavenny until the week after the Eisteddfod
· 50,000 leaflets are going out within an hour’s radius of the National Eisteddfod itself across various sites · Posters and business packs are being produced for local businesses and will be distributed around Abergavenny, Usk, Monmouth and Crickhowell. Businesses and Chambers of Commerce in other towns will receive electronic copies of the business packs. This will include details about how to get involved, information on events and activities, and some tips on how to make the most of the Eisteddfod’s visit locally. We will also include information on the window dressing competition. · Hay Festival from 26th May – Hand to hand marketing will be conducted at the festival sharing how great the festival will be for non-Welsh speakers · Recruitment of Welsh speaking Monmouthshire Ambassadors

· Town stalls are being planed for Monmouth and Usk to spread the word in these areas from the National Eisteddfod team. The Mon CC team will hold events to spread the excitement in Caldicot, Chepstow and Magor
· 1st week in June – leaflets will go out to every school child in Monmouthshire · 50 Days to go (early June) – more events will be announced at this point · End of June – Early bird tickets closing date complemented with advertising · Monmouthshire Eisteddfod Fringe Programme promoted to Eisteddfod visitors · Training of Welsh speaking Monmouthshire Ambassadors |
The National Eisteddfod team is also planning a tourism and hospitality presentation in a few weeks time, together with organising an event for pubs and restaurants in the different towns.
