Christmas Light Switch On – 2014

Santa Clause and his team of elves have sent a strict message from the North Pole to instruct Caldicot to prepare for his annual visit to the town centre on Friday 28 November. A whole host of groups, residents and businesses, led by Caldicot’s Events Committee, have jumped up to the challenge in making this year’s annual switch-on a special evening within the town.

Plans are well underway to make the evening a special one as we all look forward to Christmas festivities and celebrations. The groups have a range of entertainment and stalls lined up to include a new impressive stage to feature local musicians, schools groups and musical theatre, market stalls, licensed bars, a fun fair and hog roasts for all the family. A transformed wonderland town will welcome Santa, for a chance for us to get in our last minute present wishes.

Entertainment and stalls will run from midday on Friday 28 November, with Santa’s arrival at 18:30.

This event is kindly supported by Caldicot Town Council, Caldicot Scouts, Waitrose, Wilkinsons and Caldicot Town Team.

Caldicot Cllr Dave Evans, Chairman of the Events Committee, said: “We’re looking forward to another successful switch-on of the lights in Caldicot. It’s great to have lots of support from different groups, businesses and residents in the community to help us plan and run the event. Make sure you wrap up warm, help yourself to some mulled wine and a mince pie and keep a look out for Santa and his elves.”

The team are still on the lookout for anyone who would like a stall or would like to perform on the evening. Please contact hayward100@googlemail.com for more information and book your place.
