Caldicot Fireworks Display 2015
Caldicot Fireworks Display 2015
Caldicot Town Team are really pleased to be a part of this year’s firework display in conjunction with Capital FM. This is the third year Caldicot Town Team have supported the event and by far was the biggest.
Firstly we would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make the event a success. 80 volunteers registered to help, without them the event would not be able to go ahead. Volunteers spent many hours before the event setting up, and after the event cleaning up and packing down all the equipment.
We, like the public are gutted that the fog affected the display, it wasn’t something we were aware of before the day, and cancelling the event wasn’t an option, with the number of people already attending. It is really unfortunate that we had to close the gates, meaning some people couldn’t get in. This was done purely from a health and safety point of view. There is a limit to how many can attend the event, and this limit has to be adhered to for the safety of every single person at the event. Once some people had left, the gates were reopened to the public.
Putting on such a huge event always has issues, which are made clear on the night, such as parking, we understand that some people spent a long time stuck in traffic, there was a system in place to try and get people moving as quickly and safely as possible, but this does mean that there are queues, partly due to the nature of the road network out of Caldicot. We apologise to the residents, who had to deal with vehicles outside of the houses, and on pavements. This will be looked into next year to try and improve the situation.
It is however, very pleasing that so many people attended the event, and really enjoyed it. We are proud to be a small part of such a big event, and would like to that the entire team and volunteers, who we worked with throughout the event. Its also great to see the pictures on social media of visitors enjoying themselves. We will collect photos from social media and create a gallery on our website of the evening.
Once again, thank you for attending, we are already looking at next year’s event to see how it can be improved for you, the public.
