Update To Road Closures – Caldicot Regeneration Project

You may have noticed that signage has been erected by Alun Griffiths Contractors around the Cross Destination works area regarding a temporary road closure.  The closure is necessary as part of the carriageway resurfacing works currently being carried out on behalf of Monmouthshire County Council.

It will be a two-phase closure.  During phase one a section of carriageway between the Church Road junction and the mini roundabout (Sandy Lane) will be closed from the 13-January – 9– March 2020.

During phase two a section of carriageway between the Church Road junction towards Chepstow Road will be closed from 9– March to 13– April 2020

Traffic will be diverted through Woodstock Way for both phases and diversion signage will be in place.  The maps attached demonstrate the area to be closed and the diversion route for both phases.

There will be a temporary two-way traffic light system in place between Church Road and either Sandy Lane or Chepstow road, depending on which phase is in progress.  Church Road will be accessible from both directions at all times.

Bus companies and Monmouthshire County Council bus services have been informed of the scheduled road closures and diversions, current timetables will not be altered.  The existing bus stops on Chepstow Road will be relocated near Jubilee Way car park and a temporary bus shelter will be provided on the verge side of the road with ‘Temporary Bus Stop’ signage provided at both locations.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of the temporary traffic management arrangements and appreciate your support during the next few months whilst the essential work is being carried out, we aim to keep disruption to a minimum during this period.

Alun Griffiths Contractors have now appointed Georgie Davies as their new Public Liaison Officer, Georgie is planning a newsletter drop to businesses and residents in the area tomorrow.
