Work has started on improving the “entrance” routes to Caldicot town centre as part of the Green Infrastructure project which is funded by Welsh Government.
Monmouthshire County Council applied to Welsh Government for support from its Green Infrastructure (GI) Capital Grant scheme. In late March they were told that they were successful with approximately £50,000 being made available for enhancements to Green Infrastructure corridors and in particular local planting ‘Gateway’ schemes to help improve the welcome and sense of place. These schemes are also to promote the benefits of the GreenInfrastructure for Pollinators scheme.
The plans above have been developed in response to comments from the May consultation exercise and include seating areas originally planned for Caldicot town centre, which was purchased by Caldicot Town Team as part of the regeneration scheme for Caldicot. Full details of the plans can be found here Caldicot Green Infrastructure Proposals(comp)
The project is an element of the wider regeneration works that are due to take place over the next few months, including the redevelopment of The Cross area of Newport Road and the junction of Church Road/Chepstow Road.
